I designed and built this temporary kiln for a specific, one-off project. The goal was to construct a large volume kiln with minimal investment, which was achieved by skipping the external metal skin and internal fiberboard insulation, and simply wrapping the interior of a metal frame with several layers of frax insulation.
The entire kiln was designed to fit a specific piece.

Power was achieved through a 4 zone, 220v resistance coil setup.

The kiln was specifically sized to accommodate a certain piece, and to be forklift-able. FEA was used to size the mating feature which connected to the forklift carriage directly without using forks.
