Visible Braille: Halftone Grasshopper

The goal of this project was to explore the duality between Braille as a tactile language for the blind, yet also something that can be seen, and that information can be dual-encoded in the lexical layer as well as the visual meta layer, created by varying the size of the Braille dots.

I started with this picture of Helen Keller

Translated a text of hers into Braille, converted each dot into coordinates, and then created a halftone version of the image by varying the size of the braille using Grasshopper
